The Sticker
The Rugby Club Sticker is your very own keepsake and symbol that you are part of the world wide rugby fraternity that shares in the values and brotherhood represented by The Rugby Club.
It is understood that in 1823, William Webb Ellis famously picked up a football and “ran with it”. This was the game of Rugby being born and it has come to represent various principles and values upon which many teams and communities have been created. Some 200 years later, in 2023, two of the founding members of The Rugby Club (Ian Wright in South Africa and Graeme Peacock in England) shared a collectable rugby jersey and two stickers.
The stickers were handed across alongside the piece of memorabilia as a representation of good faith, shared history and passion for rugby. Along with this, the stickers also represent the promise to each other that wherever possible, this club will aim to afford others an opportunity, an item, a meal, a drink or even just a word of support and encouragement. All in the name of rugby, and all in the name of paying-it-forward.
Every year The Rugby Club will release and provide each paying member with two stickers. A club sticker for one’s home, office, pub, clubhouse or as a collectable. And there will be a second sticker in the form of a ‘bumper sticker’ so that members can place this second version of insignia on their cars, bikes, luggage or in any other way to let others know that you are part of the global movement of The Rugby Club. Annual stickers will align to the theme of that particular year (i.e. a ‘World Cup Year’ or ‘Lions Tour Year’ will influecne the theme of the stickers), and thus garner IP value for the members of The Rugby Club.
